ShareVeterans Day is Monday, November 11, 2019, and to honor our veterans, we will be holding several veteran events across our campuses.
Downtown Campus
Write a Letter to a Veteran Tabling
Date: Thursday, November 7, 2019
Time: 1 – 4 p.m.
Location: UnionWest, First Stop
Students, faculty and staff are welcome to come write an appreciation card/letter to soldiers who are stationed overseas. Students will be able to drop off their letters in UnionWest, Room 202, anytime through Friday, November 8, 2019.
East Campus
Movie Night
Date: Thursday, November 7, 2019
Time: 6 – 9 p.m.
Location: Building 8, Room 101 and 102
Join the Student Veteran Association for Movie Night as they screen both Forrest Gump and Saving Private Ryan. Food and drinks will be provided.
Valencia Celebrates Veterans — with Mark Nutsch
Date: Tuesday, November 12, 2019
Time: 1 – 2 p.m.
Location: Building 3, Atrium
Listen to keynote speaker Green Beret Commander Mark Nutsch, who was portrayed in the movie “12 Strong.” Mark will show brief clips from the movie, “12 Strong,” which depicts Mark’s team’s efforts in Afghanistan, and personal testimony from Mark himself. We hope our audience will be inspired by his worldview shaped by service, bravery, and honor. For a flyer, click here.

Adopt a Soldier
Date: Thursday, November 7, 2019
Time: 1 – 2 p.m.
Location: Building 2, Atrium
Students, faculty and staff are welcome to come write an appreciation card/letter to soldiers who are stationed overseas.
Veterans Tribute Variety Show
Date: Sunday, November 10, 2019
Time: 4 p.m.
Location: Osceola Performing Arts Center (3151 N. Orange Blossom Trail, Kissimmee, FL 34744)
Osceola County School for the Arts is hosting a Veterans Tribute Variety Show on Sunday, November 10, 2019, to honor our veterans in advance of Veterans Day, and Valencia employees and their families are welcome to attend. Ticket prices range from $10 for adults, $5 for children and free for all veterans.
Lake Nona Campus
Veterans Day Appreciation
Date: Tuesday, November 12 and Wednesday, November 13, 2019
Time: 10 a.m – 4 p.m.
Location: Main Hallway
Students will be able to create appreciation cards for veterans who are staying at the Lake Nona VA Hospital.
Poinciana Campus
Veterans Day Celebration
Date: Tuesday, November 12, 2019
Time: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Location: Room 125 and the Campus Courtyard
This all-day celebration will welcome 21 gun salute, Mobile Museum of Military History, American Legion Post 10, American Legion Riders, food trucks and more. Please note that there will be a Senator Victory Torres Award presentation at 10 a.m.
Winter Park Campus
Veterans Day Awareness and Appreciation and Wellness Ambassadors’ Dress for Success
Date: Thursday, November 7, 2019
Time: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Location: Portico
Join the Winter Park Campus for Veterans Day Awareness and Appreciation and Wellness Ambassadors’ Dress for Success. During the event, participants will explore military careers, write thank-you letters to veterans, practice interview techniques and see examples of appropriate attire. Refreshments will be served.
West Campus
Resource Fair
Date: Tuesday, October 12, 2019
Time: 12 – 2 p.m.
Location: HSB, Room 105
Several departments from around the College, as well as community partners, will share resources that are open to veterans. Attendees can expects to network with Valencia’s Office of Students with Disabilities and Learning Support, as well as counselors, in addition to VA Hospital, Veterans Healthcare Vitas, BayCare and Orange Country Property Appraisers.
Veteran Forum
Date: Thursday, October 14, 2019
Time: 12 – 2 p.m.
Location: TBD
Veterans will share their experience with transitioning from military life to civilian life in a Q&A format.
