Looking for ways to meet new colleagues, get connected, and strengthen your leadership skills? Valencia’s Chapter of the American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) is providing several opportunities for you to stay engaged and create connections this summer!

Path to Leadership Series: Stacey Johnson
(Open to all employees)

Discover one extraordinary woman’s path to leadership. From Texas to the Olympics, and now Valencia, Stacey Johnson, president of the East and Winter Park Campuses, shares her personal story of growth and development. Learn from her unique narrative as she recounts experiences and lessons learned along her leadership journey. Arrive early to enjoy refreshments and catch up with friends!

Read a great book and share your insights! AAWCC reading circles are a casual fun way to share knowledge and make new connections with colleagues around the college. The book will be provided at no cost and sent upon your RSVP.

Time: 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.

End of Year Social: Painting with a Twist!
(Open to AAWCC members)

Painting with a TwistBring your imagination and learn new skills and techniques for an inspirational painting experience with AAWCC friends! Share in creative camaraderie and recreate a masterpiece in your own special style. You will leave with your very own work of art to take home and hopefully, will be inspired to explore your new talent. Cost is $35 per person. A secure payment link will be sent to you upon your RSVP.

Book Scholarship Application Due
(Open to AAWCC members)

Your AAWCC Executive Committee is excited to announce the Valencia Chapter AAWCC Book Scholarship! AAWCC members can apply for this scholarship to help pay for books they have purchased for development courses. Download the scholarship application form and submit the completed form to AAWCC@valenciacollege.edu. Applications must be received no later than May 31.

Reading Circle: “Net Smart: How to Thrive Online

Read a great book and share your insights! “Net Smart: How to Thrive Online” covers five crucial areas of digital literacy: attention, participation, collaboration, critical consumption of information, and network smarts. The author, Howard Rheingold, is a leading authority on the cultural, social and political implications of the Internet, virtual communities, and other forms of new communication media. His latest book, “Net Smart,” is an easy and approachable read that has something to offer for everyone – even the most casual Internet user.
