An Update on the ‘We’re in this Together’ Campaign
ShareTuesday, April 14, 2020
Since Wednesday, March 25, 2020, more than 250 Valencia employees from across the College have been calling students who are enrolled in face-to-face and mixed-mode courses as part of the “We’re in this Together” campaign. Callers are chatting about the move of our courses online, sharing the resources available to help students with the transition, and attempting to calm and encourage students who may feel anxiety about the move from in-person or mixed-mode to online classes.
As of Thursday, April 9, employees had called nearly 17,500 of our nearly 38,000 students enrolled in face-to-face or mixed-mode courses that have moved online. Of those calls, we have spoken directly to 6,762 students and left a voicemail for 7,019 students. We also facilitated more than 800 follow-up contacts for students who requested additional assistance with courses, grade options and enrollment processes related to financial aid, business office and registration. Overall, the callers found students were in a positive frame of mind and that they were both receptive and appreciative of the College’s outreach. Calls will continue until employees contact all 35,882 students.
