Association of Valencia Women Dress for Success Clothing Drive a Success; New Leadership Announced
ShareA message from Sherri Dixon, AVW Board President and Assistant Vice President of Auxiliary Services/Contract Administration
Thanks to all for making the Association of Valencia Women (AVW) meet and greet events and our Dress for Success clothing drive a huge success. Together, we donated 446 articles of clothing, jewelry, shoes, purses and portfolios.
We have heard each of your comments, suggestions, ideas and thoughts on what you would like to see as the focus for AVW. From the meetings, AVW is working with Organizational Development and Human Resources to create a formal mentorship program. While a mentorship program will take some time to develop, we have built a calendar of tentative events and activities, and we’re eager to share these opportunities once all the details have been finalized.
On another note, I will be retiring effective Friday, January 1, 2016. I have enjoyed being part of Valencia’s American Association of Women in Community Colleges and now AVW for more than 20 years, and I fully believe we are headed in the right direction. With my retirement, I would like to announce that Karen Reilly, campus dean of learning support at West Campus, will be assuming the position of president of your AVW Board.
I wish you all much success here at Valencia!
