Banner 9 Now Available in Parallel with Banner 8

On Monday, October 15, 2018, all Banner users will be able to see and experience the new and improved Banner 9 platform in the production environment. Along with a number of important enhancements, Banner 9 will include a modern, web-based look, enhanced navigation and process management tools, as well as new functionality. Additionally, Banner 9 will allow for greater flexibility, as it will no longer be restricted to using Internet Explorer, and can be used on any browser and on tablets.

Hopefully, you have had a chance to attend one of the Banner 9 Open Labs to get hands-on experience, explore the navigation and features, and prepare for the transition from Banner 8 to Banner 9. If you haven’t yet attended, there is still one Open Lab offered at the Lake Nona Campus on Thursday, October 18, 2018. You can find details here, or by visiting the Banner 9 Resources channel.

To assist with this transition, the Banner 9 Resources channel is available and accessible in Atlas on either the Employees tab or on the Budget tab on the right side of the page. In this channel, you will find resources such as navigation videos, instructional webinars for each Banner module, shortcut documents and many other informational items. You will want to check the Banner 9 Resources channel often for announcements and updated material.

From now through Friday, November 2, 2018, the current version, Banner 8, will remain in place to provide you with the opportunity to work in either Banner 8 or Banner 9. You only need to complete work once in one environment as you will be updating records live when in either Banner 8 or 9. Please do not repeat the same work in both environments. I encourage you to take advantage of this time to really familiarize yourself with the various screens in Banner 9 and to work in the new environment as much as possible in preparation for the full transition. On Monday, November 5, 2018, Valencia will fully transition to Banner 9, and Banner 8 (our current version) will be retired.
