The Adult Literacy League Is Seeking Tutors

Approximately one in four adults in Central Florida read at or below a fifth-grade level. Valencia College’s community partner, the Adult Literacy League — which empowers Central Floridians to be thriving members of our community through literacy and education — is seeking tutors to teach adults how to read, write and speak English.

Volunteers will be trained to meet students’ educational goals by utilizing simple, easy-to-use materials and curricula and strategies to help students achieve their real-life personal goals.

To volunteer, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age;
  • Be willing to commit one hour per week with your student for at least one year;
  • Complete monthly tutoring reports to track your student’s progress; and
  • Enjoy sharing your knowledge and helping others succeed.

To learn more, visit the Adult Literacy League website, email info@adultliteracyleague.org or call 407-422-1540.
