Campus Construction: Get the 411
ShareThe University of Central Florida has released its shortlist of companies vying to develop the new UCF-Valencia Downtown Campus, scheduled to open in fall 2018.
A total of eight firms submitted proposals, and the shortlist includes five teams. These teams, which include architects, engineers and construction managers, are:
- SchenkelShultz Architecture, RAMSA and Skanska
- HuntonBrady Architects and Clancy & Theys
- PCL Construction Services and Baker Barrios
- RLF Architects, Morphosis and Barr & Barr
- The Beck Group and NBBJ
Each team will present its plans and interview with the university’s selection committee on Friday, June 17, 2016, with the final selection coming later this summer.
The downtown project consists of designing and building the new 165,000-square-foot academic building and the renovation of UCF’s adjacent Center for Emerging Media. Together, these facilities will bring more than 7,700 UCF and Valencia students to downtown Orlando, offering students an innovative learning environment within walking distance of a wide array of internship and job opportunities in fields such as communication, digital media, public service and health-related programs.
UCF will share the campus with Valencia, which will offer programs in digital media, health-information technology, culinary arts and hospitality. The campus will also feature workforce training and other certificates to increase access to education in the immediate downtown area.
