Campus Construction: Get the 411
ShareSelection of a construction firm is starting for the University of Central Florida-Valencia Downtown Campus, scheduled to open in fall 2018. A total of eight firms have submitted proposals to build the joint-use Building 1, which will house Valencia’s general education and health information technology programs, as well as renovate the existing Center for Emerging Media, which will also house Valencia’s digital media program.
The list of firms includes:
- Baker Barrios Architects – PCL Construction
- HuntonBrady Architects – Clancy & Theys Construction
- HKS Architects, Inc. – Brasfield & Gorrie
- SchenkelShultz – RAMSA – Skanska
- RLF – Morphosis – Barr and Barr
- The Beck Group (Beck Architecture, LLC and HCBeck, Ltd) – NBBJ
- The S/L/A/M Collaborative (SLAM) – Barton Malow Company
- Davis Architects, Inc. – Hoar Construction, LLC
The selection committee will meet on Monday, May 23, 2016, to determine a shortlist of the firms to share with UCF President John Hitt for approval. The approved firms will make presentations to the selection committee and advisors on Friday, June 17, 2016. Architect/Contractor bids are also now open for the parking garage that will accompany the 165,000 square-foot building and hold approximately 600 spaces. Firms have until 5 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2016 to submit bids on the parking garage design and construction.
In addition, the Downtown Campus received a $1 million gift from BB&T Corporation. For more information on the gift, click here. BB&T’s donation brings total community support for the campus to $17 million.
