Campus President Kathleen Plinske Offers Words of Wisdom on Recognition
ShareWhile most people embrace this time of year for pumpkin spice lattes and the much-awaited milder temperatures, Kathleen Plinske, president, Osceola, Lake Nona and Poinciana Campuses, looks forward to the opportunity to recognize John and Suanne Roueche Excellence Award nominees and recipients.
In the below excerpt, she details why:
“One of my favorite times of the year is when I have the chance to let our Roueche Award nominees and recipients know that they have been nominated and/or selected for the award. While the logistics are sometimes a bit complicated, I arrange my calendar so that I am able to share the great news with the nominees and the awardees in person, hand-delivering a letter to them while they are in their office that not only lets them know they have been nominated by a colleague, but that also includes a sentence or two from the nomination that clearly articulates what it is about each nominee’s efforts on campus that are being noticed and appreciated. We later recognize all of the nominees and awardees in the Campus Concentrate and at the end of semester Student Awards Banquet, but there’s something uniquely rewarding about celebrating the great work of each individual by having a personal conversation about the specific impact of the nominee’s efforts at the campus.”
As a supervisor, we hope you take Kathleen’s lead in personally congratulating your employees for being nominated or selected as a receipt of a Roueche Award or, for that matter, any award. While the award itself is great recognition, it means so much more to employees when their leader invests time in personally acknowledging their hard work and dedication to the College.
