College Streamlines Identification Services within Campus Security Departments
ShareA message from Falecia Williams, President, West Campus
In a move to streamline campus ID services, Valencia identification cards are no longer to be secured in the Office of Student Development. Instead, VID cards and parking decals are now issued by campus security.
“This ensures one-stop shopping for all ID services, said Osceola Campus Security Manager Bill Macauley, who took the lead on this project. “Campus security offices, being staffed from 7 a.m. – 9 p.m., have the resources to provide for more timely and convenient delivery of these items.”
Bill points out that there are other short- and long-term benefits to this move. Namely, the campus ID system can also be networked with other software programs, potentially saving time and money.
“A College ID Task Force continues to look at ways to make the VID a smart card, where it would function as a multipurpose ID and could be used for bookstore, café and vending purchases as well as a Valencia incentive program,” Bill said.
Congratulations to Bill, who, with his team, was able to bring the fully online system two months prior to its projected launch date.
Employees in need of a replacement ID or parking decal should now visit their respective campus security office.
