With the midterm upon us, students are vulnerable to high levels of stress. In addition, the grief and loss brought on by COVID-19 may further affect students’ motivation and performance.

If you are noticing stress-related behaviors in your students, for example, lack of engagement, or if students have shared they are experiencing distress to you directly, please complete a counseling referral form, so a counselor can reach out to them and provide emotional support. If students are interested in contacting a counselor on their own, they can do so through These forms are ideal for non-emergency situations. If students are experiencing an emotional crisis, such as suicidal ideation, please encourage them to contact BayCare (Student Assistance Program) by dialing 1-800-878-5470, and they will be able to speak to a licensed mental health professional.
