Daryl Davis assumed the role of director of institutional research in December 2014. Prior to this position, Daryl served the College for a number of years as a research analyst, where he successfully collaborated with Valencia staff, faculty members and administrators to develop a wide range of reports and data analysis that were used enterprise-wide to make data-informed decisions on some of the College’s most important initiatives. These have included the Aspen Prize, Achieving the Dream, Developmental Education Initiative (DEI) and the Quality Enhancement Plan core team.
“While working in this position, I played a lead role in collaborating with the Office of Information Technology to launch the College into a new era of reporting by rolling out the use of tools like SAS (statistical analysis software) Visual Analytics,” Daryl said.
Daryl’s organizational goals are to contribute data, information and analysis to Valencia’s culture of inquiry and evidence in support of learning assessment, decision-making, strategic planning, continuous improvement and mandatory state and federal reporting.
He has a Master of Science in computer information systems and more than 20 years work experience in the programming field at all levels, using SAS. In addition, Daryl was a four-year starter for the University of Central Florida basketball team, for which he was inducted into the UCF Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008.
“I feel my athletic experience taught me a lot about hard work, goal setting and how to function in a successful team atmosphere,” he said.
