A Message from Stacey Johnson, President, East and Winter Park Campuses
Please join me in congratulating Librarian Diane Dalrymple as the new East Campus Faculty Assembly president for 2018-2019. In addition to being a tenured librarian, she is also the library liaison for the East Campus social science and physical education, and mathematics divisions.
Prior to coming to Valencia in 2007, she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from the University of New Orleans. She also has Master of Science degree in library and information science, with a post-master’s level specialization in reference from Florida State University.
She has taught economics and marketing courses at several universities, including an e-marketing course at the University of Central Florida.
As a Valencia faculty member, she was awarded the Raymer F. Maguire Jr. Teaching Chair, Freeda Foreman Chair in Collaborative and Creative Problem-Solving, and the Tupperware Corporation Chair in Community Quality. Most recently, she was one of the recipients of a 2018 Faculty Association Award for Excellence in Teaching, Counseling and Librarianship.
One of Diane’s greatest passions is supporting students’ work through information literacy. She believes that understanding the difference between web searches and research develops life-long learners. In addition, Diane is dedicated to assisting faculty as part of the governance system. She wants to serve the Valencia community in a formal position to support Valencia’s commitment toward shared governance. She says, “There are many opportunities for faculty to serve our community and be an integral part of the process.”
On a personal note, Diane can be found relaxing and reading one of more than 1,000 cookbooks in her collection. Additionally, as a rock hound, she can be found either on land looking for the perfect rock specimens or in the Peace River shooing away alligators as she digs for megalodon teeth.
