A Message from Terri Graham, Interim President, West and Downtown Campuses
Downtown Campus employees and students partnered with Keep Orlando Beautiful by cleaning up litter and debris in the area around the Downtown Campus. Nine Valencia College Employees, six University of Central Florida employees and nine Downtown Campus students volunteered during the Saturday, May 15, 2021, event, which honored Parramore resident Vinnie Cannady.
“This was our largest community service event for the Downtown Campus and Parramore community since the opening of the campus,” explained Ashley Spry, coordinator, student development. “Not only did we have students, faculty and staff, but members of the community came to assist in the efforts as well. We were joined by Demetris Pressley, lead pastor at Livingston Street Church of God, and Rev. Dr. Robert Spooney, pastor of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Institutional Church and lead of the Parramore Community Engagement Council.”
Downtown Campus Student Engagement and Downtown Campus Community Engagement will will continue to partner with other community agencies to participate in additional service projects that will be open to faculty, staff and students.
