Dr. Shugart Shares Post Commencement Message with Graduated Students

Tuesday, May 12, 2020

At Valencia College, we live by one motto: The College is what the students experience. And last weekend, we held a virtual commencement ceremony that did not meet our students’ expectations.

Therefore, we have announced to our graduating students that we have heard their concerns and are planning a do-over. As part of that, each graduate will receive a box containing a graduation cap, tassel and other items, so that they can have a celebration at home. We are also going to host a virtual celebration this summer that offers a much better experience, and graduates will be invited to attend the next live, in-person commencement ceremony that Valencia College holds.

View a video message from College President Sandy Shugart to all 2019-2020 graduates below.

Details on the new virtual ceremony will be shared in The Juice and The Grove as they become available.
