East and Winter Park Campus Employees Give to the Pulse Memorial LGBT Scholarship

A Message from Stacey Johnson, President, East and Winter Park Campuses

It’s been more than five months since terror struck our community during the Pulse tragedy — which took the lives of 49 people and seven of Valencia’s own — and yet, for so many of us, it feels like only yesterday that the City Beautiful lost so many beautiful lives.

In an effort to heal, find peace and inspire hope for a brighter future, Orlando, including our Valencia family, has rallied together in support of the LGBT community. Recently, the Orlando Come Out With Pride parade drew thousands as participants honored the Pulse victims.

Valencia faculty, staff, students and friends have been working hard to establish the Pulse Memorial LGBT Scholarship through the Valencia Foundation as the theme of this year’s Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign. Once endowed, the scholarship will serve to honor those who were lost or injured during the Pulse nightclub shooting.

Whether you give $5 or $5,000, your contribution can help ensure this scholarship lives on — a reminder of what has transpired and an inspiration to students who can follow their dreams because of it. Working together, the minimum $25,000 endowment level can be reached to ensure it is awarded every year. Please consider making a donation of any size through payroll deductions or credit card.

Already, several of your colleagues have given to the cause:
