East Campus Celebration Hosted for UCF Connect Center
ShareThere was excitement in the air on Monday, October 15, 2018, during the University of Central Florida (UCF) Connect Center’s ribbon cutting and open house. East and Winter Park Campus President Stacey Johnson kicked off the ceremony by sharing the history of how the East Campus UCF Connect Center got its start and noted that the opening of the center signals the culmination of four years of hard work. The idea focused on providing even greater support to the thousands of students who desire and transfer from Valencia to UCF every semester.
Jeff Jones, vice provost of UCF Connect and UCF Global offices, shared that DirectConnect is in its 13th year, and more than 40,000 students have graduated through its pathway. He commented that, “The robust partnership between UCF and Valencia provides more opportunities for students to be successful. Having a physical presence on Valencia’s East Campus does make a difference since students like to have human contact when asking questions or being advised. We feel this center will have a positive impact on our students in the future.”
Michael Sarria, a Valencia graduate, current UCF student and UCF Connect Center employee, spoke about his student experience with DirectConnect to UCF. He noted that the transition from Valencia to UCF was seamless and told students to, “come to the DirectConnect office where we can assist you in the process of becoming a UCF student.”
