East Campus Faculty Resources and Professional Development Opportunities

A Message from Wendy Givoglu, Interim President, East and Winter Park Campuses

There are a number of resources and professional development opportunities designed to support faculty, both full-time and part-time, inside and outside of the classroom.

In each classroom, there is an East Campus Classroom Calling Guide, located near the classroom’s telephone. This guide contains a list of phone numbers (and extensions) that can be called in the event of an issue or problem. Phone numbers are listed pertaining to student concerns, classroom technology, general classroom issues and other useful numbers. A map of East Campus is also displayed on the back page as a referral when assistance is needed.

In addition, there are a number of resource rooms available where faculty and staff may work or meet students. These rooms have recently been refreshed with new furniture and equipment. They are equipped with computers, and some have printers, ScanTron machines and refrigerators. Click here to view the location and details for each resource room.

One of the resource rooms listed is the Center for Teaching Learning/Innovation (CTLI) in Building 4, Room 133. In addition to containing a number of computers, a print/copy machine and a small kitchen area, this room also houses the faculty development team. They are here to provide instructional support, Canvas resources, certifications and more.

Several new faculty development courses are now available and may be found here with new offerings. These new courses are designed to help you enhance your teaching practice, develop new and innovative strategies, and improve students’ learning. To learn more information about the resources available for both faculty and students on East Campus, register for the course: (PRFC1121) EC 101: A Great Place to Teach. This course will also provide important information about Valencia College, policies and procedures.

Contact Zachary Hawk, manager, campus evening and weekend, at zhawk1@valenciacollege.edu or 407-299-5000, extension 2399, if you have any questions regarding faculty resource rooms and contact Sally Leslie, campus director, faculty and instructional development, at sleslie3@valenciacollege.edu or 407-299-5000, extension 5142, regarding faculty development questions.
