A Message from Stacey Johnson, President, East and Winter Park Campuses
It’s my pleasure to announce two new deans on the East Campus: Dean of Mathematics Keri Siler and Dean of Social Science and Physical Education Mark Collins. Both deans began their new roles at Valencia on Monday, July 2, 2018.
Keri has a deep passion for and dedication to education that has spanned 26 years. She has been at East Campus since 2012 and is currently working on her doctorate degree in Higher Education Administration at the University of Florida. During her years at Valencia, she has worked on many innovations such as developing a flipped classroom for large math classes for which she received the Innovation of the Year Award in 2016 for “Flipping in a Big Way.” She has also been the co-facilitator of the Mathematical Mindsets faculty development course since 2017. In addition, she brings deep experience in K-12 to the table as well.
Mark Collins comes to us from the College of DuPage, located in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, where he has served as the associate dean for all adjunct faculty, serving approximately 2,500 part-time faculty in hiring, onboarding, evaluating and learning. He also recently served as the interim dean of the English Division, where he helped bring together a very large and divided division. He holds a doctorate degree in education with a focus on adult education. He served the College of DuPage for seven years.
Please join me in congratulating and welcoming Keri and Mark.
