Focus on the Workplace: Connecting Classroom Learning to Workplace Needs

Take advantage of a great opportunity to participate in one of Valencia’s most unique and exciting faculty development programs, Focus on the Workplace. Applications are now being accepted to participate next summer.

Focus on the Workplace enables you to observe, work and learn in an exciting business environment for up to six weeks during the summer. Participants gain first-hand knowledge about the current job market, are updated on future trends and technological advances related to their fields, increase their understanding of the needs and dynamics of today’s workplace and gain a different outlook and new perspective on what they teach in the classroom.

If you are you a full-time faculty member who is looking for new ways to enhance the teaching and learning that takes place in your classroom, then Focus on the Workplace is for you! Faculty members who participate in this program return to the classroom refreshed and invigorated with real world applications that better connect classroom learning to the workplace.

focus-workplace-santra-quote-grove All full-time, tenure or tenure-track faculty are eligible to participate with a dean’s approval.

Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Limited spaces are available.

Once selected, you will be released from two three-credit hour classes to work with an organization or business during summer Term A and spend six full weeks in the workplace. Valencia will pay for an adjunct professor to teach your classes while you are in the workplace and will also assist in finding a work site.
