A Message from Wendi Dew, Assistant Vice President, Teaching and Learning
Please join me in congratulating Geni Wright, formerly the assistant director of online teaching and learning, on accepting her new role — director, online teaching and learning.
In her new role, Geni will continue collaborating with others and providing leadership for initiatives and programs designed to foster quality online and hybrid learning experiences.
“To me, the best part is that my role continues to focus on developing relationships in a highly collaborative environment,” Geni said. “I’m still actively engaged with my team of talented faculty developer/instructional designers and multimedia designers, and it’s important to me to provide resources and support as they share innovative online course design and technology with faculty. I’m excited to continue my collaboration with the faculty fellows for online learning excellence as we discuss the development of resources for the Rubric for Online Competencies in an effort to support faculty as they prepare their courses for the course peer review process.”
Going forward, Geni will also place a special emphasis on the Digital Professor Certification, ensuring that course content clearly aligns with the Rubric for Online Competencies and faculty understand what resources are available to support their online and hybrid classes.
“Valencia College is a special place where we aren’t afraid to tackle large-scale, innovative work,” Geni said. “Every day, I go home and think of how lucky I am to be a part of a learning community leading the work on quality initiatives for online course design and engaged teaching.”
Please join me in thanking Geni for her leadership and congratulating her on her new role.
