A Message from Christina Hardin, Director, New Student Experience
NSE Needs Your Help
Certainly you’ve heard of the 6 Ps – place, purpose, pathway, plan, preparation and personal connection — the foundation of the New Student Experience initiative. The 6Ps are interwoven into the redesigned NSE course, but did you know that there is a co-curricular dimension to supplement what is occurring in the classroom?
As part of the course, students are required to attend co-curricular activities tied to purpose and personal Connection. We call these the “GoBes” – Going beyond the classroom, or said another way, “Go and Be all that you can be.”
In fall 2014, 5,697 students registered for 219 sections of the NSE course. In order to support these students, there are more than 200 co-curricular GoBe options for students to choose from, and we need your help!
Volunteer to be a guest at the Ben and Jerry’s GoBe Meet and Greet. All it takes is a 30-minute time commitment.
College students who feel a “connection” to a staff or faculty member on campus report a greater satisfaction with their college experience. It is our intention with this activity to guide students to connect with people and build community by introducing the importance of networking. We also invite students to engage in dialogue about the passion, personality and purpose of others — but with a fun twist. Students assume the role of an intern at Ben and Jerry’s. Sorry, there’s no ice cream!
