Guest Speakers Rally Students to Discuss Credit Transfer Planning

The East Campus Student Government Association (SGA) and the Valencia Legal Society hosted a Town Hall Meeting on February 26, featuring three guest speakers who discussed how students should plan for transferring credit hours to a university.

“The purpose of the Town Hall Meeting was to try and increase the participation of students in educational activities available on campus,” said Marshane Rhoden, the East Campus SGA senator of legislative affairs and an organizer of the event. “I believe that the event overall was a success.”

Presenters included the University of Central Florida’s (UCF’s) registrar, Brian Boyd, and associate university registrar, Paul Viau, as well as Florida State Representative Joe Saunders (House District 49), whose district includes UCF.

When asked how she felt the meeting benefited students on campus, Marshane said, “It was great having the opportunity for SGA and Valencia Legal Society to work together on this meeting. I hope the students who attended left with knowledge of the subjects discussed and will invite their friends to future events.

Joe Sarrubbo, East Campus dean of students, was in attendance and commented on the event, saying, “[it] featured very important and pertinent information that all transferring students could benefit from. It was exciting to see the students in attendance asking so many good questions.”
