Internship and Workforce Services/Alumni Relations Host Spring Job Fair

Job-fair-collage-groveOn Monday, March 31, 2014, staff from Internship and Workforce Services partnered with Alumni Relations and Valencia’s Career Centers to host the Spring Job Fair at the West Campus Special Events Center.

The event drew 32 employers from the hospitality, culinary, nonprofit, music and entertainment, public service and banking industries. Local employers included Hilton, Walt Disney World, O-Town Records, Wells Fargo, Orange County Corrections and SeaWorld.

Students were dressed to impress with resumes in hand. More than 100 students and two Valencia alumni attended the four-hour job fair to meet with prospective employers.

“Kudos to the team for putting together this exceptional opportunity for our students,” said Barbara Frazier, director, Internship and Workforce Services. “Their work exemplifies the great relationships between multiple Valencia departments and our business partners.”

The Valencia team that planned, organized and hosted the fair included Catherine Espenscheid, counselor; Barbara Shell, assistant director, community relations; Carmen Diaz, coordinator, job development/placement; Daphne Cooper, community and alumni relations assistant; Kiesha Johnson, staff assistant II; Kamla Billings, career advisor; Tara Wissig, staff assistant II; Mary Stevens, staff assistant I; and Ayanna Collins, coordinator, career program advisor, business.

Steven Karras, Samantha Bonsu and Tammi Mathis from Phi Beta Lambda served as student volunteers.
