It’s Time to Wrap Up the Mid-Year Check-In and Prepare for the End-of-Year Check-In

We greatly appreciate your partnership and continued support with the Check-In, Valencia’s Performance Review Process, as you continue to lead meaningful conversations about performance development and review the status of goal completion with your employees.


At this time in the Check-In cycle, we are wrapping up the 2015-2016 Mid-Year Check-In, where goals set during the Beginning-of-Year Check-In are updated in the online Check-In tool. This important “mid-way” point allows you to formally recognize the accomplishments of your employees and to provide feedback in areas that may need improvement. This valuable communication gives your employees the opportunity to take corrective action, as needed, which prevents surprises during the End-of-Year Check-In. Reviewing progress toward goal completion will help you to address and clear any roadblocks that may be getting in the way of successful employee performance as well.slice

Be sure to reference the Discussion Planner when preparing for a formal discussion. And remember to keep lines of communication open throughout the year, as informal feedback is needed on a regular basis.


The 2015-16 Mid-Year Check-In should be completed by the end of February. In March, Check-In status updates will be provided to each senior team member, for all employees in their respective area. Email notifications about the 2015-16 End-of-Year Check-In will be sent in April, as we work toward closing out the 2015-16 Check-In cycle by Thursday, June 30, 2016.

A big thank you to everyone who took the time to provide their feedback on the Check-In, via the Qualtrics survey sent out in December. We greatly appreciate your candid input and are working to make improvements to the online Check-In tool and process. More information will follow in the coming months regarding specific changes and improvements.
