Vasudha Sharma Wins Outstanding Two-Year College Teacher Award

A Message from Stacey Johnson, President, East and Winter Park Campuses

For the second year in a row, an East Campus chemistry professor won the Outstanding Two-Year College Teacher Award from the Orlando section of the American Chemical Society (ASC). Vasudha Sharma was recognized as the Outstanding Two-Year College Teacher at the annual awards banquet, held on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at the Big Fin Seafood Kitchen in Orlando. Sixty chemists, friends and family members gathered to recognize local students and teachers in the field of chemistry, and seven awards totaling $1,800 were given.

Vasudha was nominated by Jennifer Snyder, dean, science, and Stephanie Spong, campus director, faculty and instructional development, for continual improvement in her teaching practices, dedication to Valencia’s night and weekend students and her contributions to the Writing Across the Curriculum Destination track this past summer. She received a plaque and a $300 cash award.

Last year, Daeri Tenery, professor, chemistry, was the recipient of this prestigious award.
