Jennifer Robertson Selected as Executive Dean of the Poinciana Campus

A Message from Kathleen Plinske, President, Osceola and Lake Nona Campuses

I am pleased to announce that Jennifer Robertson has been selected to serve as the executive dean of the Poinciana Campus. Jennifer officially began in this new role on Monday, April 4, 2016. Until the Poinciana Campus opens, her office will be located on the Osceola Campus in Building 1, Room 141D.Jennifer-Robertson-270w

Jennifer has more than 25 years of experience working in the field of education. She began her career as a Spanish teacher in New Hampshire and spent several years working in various countries throughout Latin America. Jennifer eventually moved to Puerto Rico to open her own language school for adults and companies in the San Juan area. Her school was the first private language school to be licensed by the Puerto Rico Department of Education and to have a fully operational and licensed daycare that offered free services to faculty and students. In 2001, Jennifer sold her school to a local community college in Puerto Rico and was hired by Valencia to start the Center for Global Languages.

Several years later, she assumed additional responsibilities as the director of continuing education where she oversaw the language center, online learning, professional skills, corporate meeting services, testing services, healthcare programs and corporate training. In 2010, Jennifer was hired as Valencia’s director of Study Abroad and Global Experiences. Since then, study abroad enrollment at Valencia has doubled, Valencia has earned the Institute of International Education’s Andrew Heiskell Honorable Mention for internationalizing the community college in 2014, and more than 100 students have enrolled in the new Global Distinction Program that was launched last spring.

Jennifer holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish, a master’s degree in business administration and is completing her doctoral degree in educational leadership at the University of Central Florida. She is fully bilingual in Spanish and is currently learning Portuguese.

Please join me in welcoming Jennifer to the Osceola-Lake Nona-Poinciana team!

With Jennifer’s move, Academic Affairs conducted a thorough review of its internal capacity and decided to restructure some of its internal positions with the support and approval of senior leadership. Click here for details on new SAGE leadership and positions.
