Jennifer Tomlinson Named Interim Dean of Learning Support

Wednesday, August 12, 2020

A Message from Terri Graham, Interim President, West and Downtown Campuses

Jennifer Tomlinson has been selected as interim dean of learning support for the West Region, effective immediately.

In her new role, Jennifer will work collaboratively with campus and College leadership to plan for, implement and assess the policies, procedures and operations of an innovative and high-quality learning support program. She will also be responsible for all aspects of the campus learning support programs and services including the library, tutoring services, testing center, general learning labs, SLS, supplemental learning, LinC support and instructional support.

Jennifer currently serves as a full-time faculty member for New Student Experience (NSE). She’s also the discipline co-coordinator for the division and has served as chair of the NSE leadership team; team lead for the redesign of the Academic Blueprint; and team lead for the design and implementation of the “buddy system” between NSE faculty and program advisors. Jennifer has also taught African American Humanities and is a former Bridges to Success academic advisor.

“It is my goal to create systems that ultimately impact student learning,” said Jennifer of her new position. “With the new strategies put in place for our Valencia family to collaboratively work remotely, I believe this has been the most opportune environment to learn from my peers in our collegewide work. In my new role, I look forward to adding my knowledge and experience to this effort as we implement innovative approaches that lead to continued learning and greater efficiency.”

Jennifer has an Associate in Arts from Valencia, a Bachelor of Arts in humanities from the University of South Florida and a Master of Liberal Studies from Rollins College.

Jennifer also brings a breadth of talent and experience in equity and excellence, project design and project management, and training and development facilitation. Join me in congratulating her as she assumes this new leadership role.
