A Message from Terri Graham, Interim President, West and Downtown Campuses

Congratulations to Professor of Business Jerrid Kalakay for being appointed to the prestigious Ashoka U Exchange 2021 – Agenda Council. The Ashoka U Exchange is the world’s largest gathering of social innovators in higher education.

Each year the Exchange brings together hundreds of faculty, staff, administrators, students and thought leaders. Ashoka U is the higher education initiative of Ashoka, the world’s largest network of change makers and social entrepreneurs recognized as one of the top 15 non-governmental organizations (NGO) in the world by NGO Advisor.

As a member of the eight-person council, Jerrid will play an instrumental role in delivering an Exchange that is value-based and community-centered. The council works side-by-side with the Ashoka U team to ensure the Exchange is inclusive of the wide-ranging needs of the various higher education institutions by certifying that all facilitators are aligned with the values of the Exchange, are equipped with the skill sets necessary for presenting and ensure that all participants can engage and enjoy the conference without hindrance through improved accessibility.

“As one of the first community college representatives to be appointed to the council, I am honored to highlight all of the fantastic work Valencia and other colleges are doing in social entrepreneurship and sustainable innovation educational space,” Jerrid shared.
