Leadership Forum Discusses Institutional Planning, HEERF II and More During June Meeting

Valencia College’s Leadership Forum met on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, and discussed the following topics:

Institutional Planning
Darren Smith, director, institutional effectiveness, provided an update on the College’s institutional planning process, including the four goal areas, the work done so far by the Student Experience, Academic Program, Learning and Equity Plan Teams, as well as next steps. View the presentation.

Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds III
Daniel Barkowitz, assistant vice president, financial aid and veterans affairs, shared an update about the third round of Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF) student grants, including what the College has been authorized to spend, what we’ve spent so far, and our plans for summer and fall disbursement. Click here for the presentation.

Jackie Lasch, assistant vice president, financial services, continued the HEERF update by covering institutional funding, including what College projects the first and second rounds HEERF funds covered, as well as projects that will be covered by the third round of funding. View her presentation here.

College Budget
Oscar Cristancho Mercado, assistant vice president, budgets and analysis, provided a budget summary including 2021-2022 budget model assumptions, 10-year state appropriations, a revenue summary, 10-year operating expenditures, an expenditures budget summary and the 2021-2022 fund balance report. Read the budget update.

Student Clubs and Organizations
Amy Bosley, vice president, organizational development and human resources, and Joshua Austin, Nelson Sepulveda Fernandez and Charles Ensminger, directors, student development, provided an update on the student clubs and organizations and what’s required to be a club advisor. View the presentation.

Consumer Insight Survey Results
Jay Galbraith, vice president, public affairs and marketing, presented a summary of the results of a recent survey of prospective and current students to determine what is driving consumer behavior during the pandemic as it relates to pursuing a post-secondary education. Click here for the presentation.
