Leadership Quotes Corner – For Leaders, By Leaders

From Joe Nunes, Coordinator of Policy and Program Compliance, Human Resources & Diversity

“Accept the challenges, so that you may feel the exhilaration of victory.” – General George S. Patton

Who we ultimately become in our lives is based on how many of the challenges we embrace in our lives and what we do with the huge number of opportunities that come our way – opportunities to love, to serve, to give, or to learn. Living life to the fullest means accepting the challenges and celebrating with exhilaration when we succeed. If we fail, that just presents an opportunity to try again – it usually doesn’t mean the end of the world.

This is my credo at Valencia. I try to make the best of every situation and approach every challenge with a smile and a positive attitude. I choose to see every challenge as an opportunity… and survive and thrive when opportunity presents itself. At the end of the day, I don’t want to count the number of “would haves, should haves, and could haves.” I want the satisfaction of knowing I took risks, met challenges head on, and was engaged.

Being that I am Joe's son, I can speak from many years experience that my father is a go-getter. He doesn't do anything without giving his best effort. He loves to see others succeed and always extends an attitude of service with heavy portions of grace and mercy. You certainly are a blessing.
