Marketing and Strategic Communications Joins Public Affairs
ShareIn January, Lucy Boudet, vice president of marketing and strategic communications (MSC), retired after many years of dedicated and respected service. Her retirement ushered in an opportunity for Dr. Shugart to reevaluate the structure and organization of the division, and he decided to join MSC with the Division of Public Affairs, led by James “Jay” Galbraith, to create the Division of Public Affairs and Marketing.
Jay joined Valencia in March 2014, just in time to serve as Valencia’s liaison to the White House in preparation for President Barack Obama’s visit. In his role as vice president of public affairs, he directs the College’s federal and state legislative affairs, public policy communications and community engagement.
Prior to joining Valencia, Jay served as the vice president for state and domestic affairs at SeaWorld Entertainment and was responsible for the company’s governmental affairs in Florida, Texas, California, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
The transition of Marketing and Strategic Communications is a strategic move that will enhance the connectivity and alignment between the College’s marketing and public relations efforts and the work taking place in the community. As a part of the reorganization, an assistant vice president of marketing will be hired to oversee the marketing operations. Strategic communication functions will report directly to Jay Galbraith.
The Public Affairs and Marketing group is comprised of Government Affairs, Community Affairs, Marketing and Strategic Communications. Click on the image below to view the Public Affairs and Marketing Organizational Chart.
