From Left to Right: Sharon Mondoro, Jennifer Bevan and Ruth Ridore
Please join us in welcoming the East/Winter Park Campus OD/HR team at a reception Wednesday, June 11, 2014, from 1 until 3 p.m. in Building 3, Room 113 on the East Campus.
As part of the human resources reorganization, a team of organizational development/human resources professionals has been deployed to the East Campus. The team represents the Winter Park campus as well. Located in Building 7-110A on East Campus, the office is staffed by Ruth Ridore, campus director of organizational development and human resources (OD/HR); Jennifer Bevan, coordinator of employment and onboarding; and Sharon Mondoro, human resources specialist.
Ruth Ridore, Campus Director of Organizational Development and Human Resources
As campus director, Ruth’s role is to serve as an internal consultant to campus leadership and lead the on-campus implementation of strategy, services, policies and programs. She assists and advises supervisors, campus leadership and employees with human resources issues, including guidance on policies and processes. Another key function is partnering with district OD/HR staff to carry out responsibilities in the areas of departmental and supervisory development, Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), records, employee relations, training and development, benefits and wellness, compensation, organizational communication, and planning and employment.
“I look forward to facilitating and embodying the human resources C.A.R.E.S. values of collaboration, accountability, respectfulness, ethical behavior and having a consistently strategic focus with our clients. I invite and encourage employees to engage with their campus HR team and share feedback in ways that will help us become an integral part of campus life.”
After graduating from Valencia in 2002, Ruth continued her career in a multi-faceted business background, working in both the private and public sector as a human resources office coordinator in the Nicholson School of Communication at the University of Central Florida and as a human resources manager at the Florida Hotel and Conference Center. She began her Valencia career in 2012 as the coordinator of credentialing policy.
Ruth is a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR), has an MBA with a double concentration in human resources management and organizational psychology and development from American InterContinental University and completed her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Central Florida in human resources management.
Jennifer Bevan, Coordinator of Employment and Onboarding
Jennifer Bevan is responsible for consulting with hiring managers and coordinating staffing activities for the College, including advertising, recruitment, selection, hiring and related training as coordinator of employment and onboarding. She also collaborates with campuses, divisions and other partners to develop and execute specific onboarding programs while serving as the primary point of contact for job applicants.
Prior to her position with Valencia, Jennifer was the manager of human resources at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, where she managed all functions of human resources and designed and implemented an onboarding and training program for work-study students and employees. She has nearly eight years of generalist human resources experience.
“I feel very fortunate to work for such a wonderful institution, am passionate about customer service and I understand the importance connecting with people. Even more, I am excited to bring these attributes and my previous human resources experience and knowledge to the East Campus faculty and staff.”
Jennifer obtained her bachelor’s degree from Mount Olive College in business administration with a concentration in management and organizational development.
Sharon Mondoro, Human Resources Specialist
Sharon’s duties as a human resources specialist include processing electronic personnel action forms, assisting campus support staff in completing and understanding OD/HR processes and forms and communicating basic policies and procedures, among others.
“I began taking classes at Valencia College to get my Associate in Arts degree and search for a new career. I knew I had a passion for helping people, but I wasn’t sure what career field I wanted to pursue.”
Over the past eight years, Sharon has held roles at the College as a work-study student, human resources intern, as a part-timer in employment services and finally, full-time in records. These experiences provided the insight she needed to know that a career path in human resources was, indeed, the right fit.
“And I have loved every minute of it,” she says. “My experience and knowledge gained in these various human resources departments will help me better serve the employees on East Campus.”
