Meet Your ODHR Regional Solution Center Team

Left to right: Rose Quiles, Kristabel Carvajal, Annie Samlall and Carla McKnight

A Message from Falecia Williams, President, West and Downtown Campuses

You wouldn’t be alone if you have questions for our Organizational Development and Human Resources (ODHR) department — anything from questions about payroll to inquiries about how our benefits work and everything in-between. Fortunately, as a result of ODHR’s new service model, it’s easier than ever to get the answers and assistance you require.

Regional Solution Centers, which serve as local, one-stop-shops of ODHR services, can answer any ODHR questions you may have, from the time you are hired to the day you retire. They’re also a valuable resource for information about development opportunities, employee relations issues or for assistance with processes like hiring. Trained in human resources and dedicated to developing Valencia’s community of faculty and staff, they’re happily available to assist in any way they can.

The West Regional Solution Center is conveniently located in Building 6 on the third floor, in suite 306.

No matter what you’re question is, please don’t hesitate to stop by the center. Walk-ins are welcome. Alternatively, you can contact ODHR at HR4U@valenciacollege.edu or call the HR4U helpline at 407-299-5000, extension HR4U (4748), to make an appointment or ask your question(s) via email or phone.

Below is an introduction of each member of the West Regional Solution Center team:

Carla McKnight, Director, ODHR West Region
Our regional director, Carla, boasts an eight-year career with Valencia. Equipped with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in educational leadership, she’s held roles as both a faculty and staff member including coordinator of student conduct and academic success, New Student Experience faculty and her current role. She describes her position as “an internal consultant to both the ODHR partners as well as the leaders within the region, focusing on operational needs of the workforce and the strategic needs of the organization across all the functional areas of ODHR.”

In her free time, you can find her enjoying music — just don’t ask her to sing for you.

Rose Quiles, Assistant Director, ODHR West Region
The newest to Valencia, Rose brings with her a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and 17 years of experience in human resources. A self-described generalist, in her role she enjoys the opportunity to support Carla and West Campus employees on a myriad of ODHR topics. “I love working with people and helping people,” she said, which includes finding creative solutions to her colleagues’ needs.

Outside of work, you can find Rose, a Chicago native, rooting for the Chicago Cubs.

Kristabel Carvajal, Navigator, ODHR West Region

One of two navigators on the team, who are responsible for fielding inquiries and connecting employees to resources, Kristabel has also been employed at the College for eight years and is currently working toward her bachelor’s degree in management and human resources. Like the rest of the team, she considers herself a jack of all trades, but especially enjoys assisting hiring managers with the hiring process — from crafting the perfect job postings, finding the best candidates and selecting employees right for the job.

After work, you can find Kristabel teaching Zumba at the YMCA (Kristabel recently taught colleagues Zumba on Learning Day.).

Annie Samlall, Navigator, ODHR West Region

The team’s second navigator, Annie has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and is currently working toward her Master’s of Business Administration. During her tenure at Valencia, she’s held various roles in ODHR, working in areas under HRIS and Employment and Onboarding. Describing her role, she said, “We have to alter what we do based on who walks in the door and the current needs of the campus.”

In her free time, Annie likes to try new recipes, and for a good laugh, she enjoys the live energy from stand-up comedy shows.

The West Regional Solution Center team hopes you’ll visit them soon. They’re eager to help field your questions and empower you to be the best you can be.
