As part of the human resources reorganization, a team of organizational development/human resources professionals has been deployed to the Osceola Campus. This team will service both Osceola and Lake Nona campuses and is your starting point for all human resources matters.

Located in Building 1, Room 141 on the Osceola Campus, the office is staffed by Lisandra “Liz” Suarez, campus director of organizational development and human resources (OD/HR); Maryam Khan, coordinator of employment and onboarding; and Vincent “Vinny” Mirandi, human resources specialist.

Please join me in welcoming the HR team to Osceola Campus.

Lisandra “Liz” Suarez, Campus Director of Organizational Development and Human Resources

liz-suarez-270w“Liz” joined Valencia as the assistant director of employee relations in 2012 after gaining many years of experience in human resources management in the hospitality industry.

“I hope to bring value as a partner, internal consultant and liaison to leadership at the Osceola and Lake Nona campuses, its employees and community partners in a myriad of initiatives to reinforce Valencia’s vision,” she says. “And I look forward to collaborating with other onsite human resources functions and the district office to deliver the essential services required to ensure an outstanding employee experience at these locations.”

As campus director, Liz’s role is to serve as an internal consultant to campus leadership and lead the on-campus implementation of strategy, services, policies and programs. She assists and advises supervisors, campus leadership and employees with human resources issues, including guidance on policies and processes. Another key function is partnering with district OD/HR staff to carry out responsibilities in the areas of departmental and supervisory development, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), records, employee relations, training and development, benefits and wellness, compensation, organizational communication, and planning and employment.

Committed to developing and helping others reach their potential, Liz volunteers her time for community causes as a mentor in the Take Stock in Children Program, with other young professionals and in early youth development initiatives.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration/human resources and a series of relevant certifications for her human resources role, including a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification, certification as Civil County Court Mediator and a graduate certificate from the school of business at Rollins College. She is affiliated with the Florida and National Diversity Councils, in which she has served as chair for their annual state conference since 2012.

Prior to her current role with Valencia, Maryam worked as an operational staffing recruiter at an Orlando-based theme park.

“I believe that customer service is an integral part of maintaining ongoing relationships, and I look forward to being able to assist faculty, staff and job applicants in a timely and efficient manner.”

Vincent “Vinny Mirandi, Human Resources Specialist, Osceola Campus

Having worked in human resources for varied organizations, a multi-state title insurance company, a theme park based restaurant/retail operation and a mental healthcare facility, Vincent brings many years of relevant human resources experience.

“After my first year in college, I decided to move to Florida. I wanted to stay abreast of what was happening in the HR field while I considered changing my major, so I began taking a few classes at Valencia. The instructors were excellent, so I chose to stay. I’m glad to return to Valencia now as an employee and support such an exceptional institution.”
