On Tuesday, August 2, 2022, more than 180 Valencia College students celebrated the completion of their Associate in Science in nursing during a Pinning Ceremony at Olympia High School — signaling their entry into the healthcare field and commitment to serving others. A total of 169 of these graduates completed the traditional A.S. track and 19 completed the accelerated track.
The A.S in nursing is a two-year program that prepares students to go directly into a specialized career in the nursing field. Due to the current shortage of skilled nurses, there are tremendous opportunities in nursing, and Valencia plays an essential role in meeting our community’s healthcare needs.
Historically, nurse pinning ceremonies are a symbolic way of recognizing new graduates and welcoming them into the nursing profession. Upon receipt of their pins, graduates recite the Nightingale Pledge, named in honor of Florence Nightingale, a modified version of the Hippocratic Oath.
Valencia College is proud of our graduates and their role in supporting our community’s healthcare needs.
