National Boss’s Day Is This Friday! Here’s How You Can Say ‘Thank You’

Monday, October 12, 2020

The task of leading and helping others improve while maintaining fairness is not easy. This is truer than ever this year with remote work playing a more prominent role in our working lives.

National Boss’s Day is Friday, October 16, 2020, so if you would like to say “thank you” to a supervisor for the support, mentorship, encouragement or motivation he or she may have provided you and your team, here is a list of ideas you can choose from:

  • Take a few minutes of your time and send a badge through the Valencia EDGE. By sending a badge, you also have the opportunity to share your recognition feedback with your supervisor’s supervisor.
  • Send a group e-card via GroupGreeting. The website is user-friendly, and there are so many fun options of cards to choose from. All you have to do is copy and paste the card link and send to all you want to invite to sign it. Cards are $5 each, about the same cost of a paper card found in the store.
  • Create a free “brag board” using Padlet, where you may post messages, fun stories and pictures as a group.
  • Send cards via the mail without leaving your home using Postable. These cards can’t be signed by multiple users, but they can be sent from individuals or a group and will be shipped, postage included, to the address of your choice.
  • Use Zoom to record personal messages that can be sent to your supervisor via email on Boss’s Day. Just click on “Start a Zoom Meeting” and then press “Record” — it’s that easy!
  • Plan a surprise virtual “meet up” with your team on a Zoom or Microsoft Teams call. Schedule it in advance and name the meeting something different or start a meeting and choose the “Invite Participants” option for an impromptu surprise.
  • Send a snack or small gift via one of the many online providers in the area.

We sincerely hope you take a moment to acknowledge the work of supervisors on National Boss’s Day.
