Get to Know Your Day-Shift Campus Security Field Supervisor
Ken Olsen is the day-shift campus security field supervisor on East Campus. Prior to being hired at Valencia in 2009, Ken Olsen dedicated 21 years to the New York City Department of Corrections. While there, he received a Medal of Valor – the highest national award for valor by a public safety officer – for negotiating a hostage situation. He also received the Bronx Community Service Award. He then, subsequently, honed his skills as a security investigator at Sea World.
Ken is optimistic about his work at Valencia and possesses excellent leadership skills; he enjoys mentoring and developing his officers to the best of their abilities. Ken also believes in finding balance, so when he is not on campus, you can find him playing a game of golf or hockey, or spending quality time with his wife, five daughters and three grandchildren.
