Congratulations to Bettie Cooper, director, payroll services, and the payroll services team who are winners of the winter break energy conservation shutdown pizza party announced in the Tuesday, December 16, 2014, issue of The Juice. A total of nine departments participated.
“Our energy savings program is a success because of what we have done to support it! Thank you to those who helped in their own way over the break. It all adds up,” said Patti Riva, operations manager, energy education. “So let’s continue saving!”
The College will be closed on Monday, January 19, 2015, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday. Before leaving for the break, please take the following steps to help our ongoing sustainability initiatives to reduce energy consumption:
- Completely power down all computers, monitors, printers, copy machines and televisions.
- Turn off office and break room lights.
- Close blinds.
- Switch off power strips.
- Ensure all classroom equipment is turned off, including but not limited to, overhead projectors.
- Unplug appliances such as microwaves, toasters and coffee pots.
Please note that the electricity is not shut off during holiday breaks, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems cycle on and off as needed.
