The Peace and Justice Initiative is Coming to Winter Park

The Peace and Justice Initiative (PJI) will be opening a new office on the Winter Park Campus in the fall of 2014. Thanks to the excitement and commitment of the Winter Park administration, faculty and staff, the PJI hopes to flourish on the campus through curricular and co-curricular activities and will promote peace and justice for all. The program aims to nurture an inclusive, caring and respectful environment on campus and within the College community — one where conflict leads to growth and transformation rather than violence or aggression.
Throughout the fall and spring semesters, the PJI will host a full program of events, including faculty, staff and student workshops, interfaith breakfasts, film screenings, public lectures and fun festivities. Events may focus on the importance of equality, compassion, diversity, inner-peace, interfaith understanding and social justice issues.
Highlights for the year include Global Peace Week in September 2014 and the Conversation on Justice in January 2015. Faculty members are encouraged to integrate the co-curricular activities into their courses and, when possible, bring their class to these events.

The new PJI office will be located on Winter Park Campus in Room 130, and will be shared with The Global Peace Film Festival. In its 11th year in Central Florida, the film festival has been a significant partner of the PJI.
