The semester started with an intriguing Conversation on Justice, a week-long collegewide event in partnership with 32 community organizations that included workshops, panel discussions, speakers and a social justice film series.
Resident artist and teacher, Iron Eagle, an Apache Medicine Man, provided wisdom, healing music and art in an effort to mend the fabric of our shared humanity.
Other highlights of the term included activities of the Peace and Justice Ambassadors and the development of a Unified Approach to Peace Learning by psychology professors Judi Addelston, Diana Ciesko and Linda Freeman.
In the newsletter you will also find a sneak peak video (found on page 6) previewing the two-day collaborative design process when community partners came together to vision a Peace and Justice Institute for Central Florida.
The Peace and Justice Initiative is a faculty, staff and student led initiative that aims to transform the culture at Valencia into one where peace and justice for all are valued and conflict is viewed as an opportunity for growth and transformation.
