Peripheral Equipment Guidelines

A Message from Patti Smith, Chief Information Officer

While working from home, you may prefer to use equipment other than an assigned or loaned laptop. Valencia College will allow you to use your permanently assigned monitor, keyboard and mouse from your work location.

Before you remove any equipment, please follow the guidelines below:

  • Obtain approval from your dean, assistant vice president or vice president to remove equipment from your work space.
  • Notify security prior to removal of your equipment. For contact information, click here.
  • Remove the equipment yourself, without Office of Information Technology (OIT) support.
  • Configure/set up the equipment in your home without OIT support.
  • Return all equipment on the first date we return to work on campus.
  • Set your workstation up when you return to campus without OIT support.

Please note that each laptop can only connect to a single external monitor. If you have a permanently assigned laptop with a docking station, you will need the docking station to set up multiple monitors. If you are using a loaned laptop, you can only connect to one monitor. We do not have docking stations available to loan.

OIT remains focused on provisioning and supporting systems. Because these obligations are our priority, we will be unable to assist with the removal of systems from offices or be able to come to your home to help you set up and configure your systems. Upon our eventual return to campus, we ask that you return the equipment and set up your equipment appropriately.
