President Shugart Profiled in WUCF TV “Artisodes”

Yield who will to their separation
My object in living is to unite
My avocation and my vocation
As my two eyes make one in sight

From the poem, “Two Tramps in Mud Time” by Robert Frost

Sandy Shugart, Valencia College president, musician and poet, says that for the past 40-plus years of his life, he has been guided by a desire to live a life that blends both his avocation and vocation after reading the poem, “Two Tramps in Mud Time,” written by Robert Frost.

“I have tried to be all of myself all the time,” he said, as he describes living a life that is not compartmentalized.

Shugart shared his philosophy in an episode of WUCF TV’s “Artisodes,” which aired January 29, 2015. View the insightful and wide-ranging interview, along with his performance at the Garden Theatre (with a surprise duet with his daughter) below.
