RN to BSN Program Earns CCNE Accreditation

Tuesday, July 14, 2020

The Valencia College Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN) has earned the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accreditation.

The accreditation — which is good for five years and became official in May 2020 — is retroactive and applies to the programs’ first cohorts, who began their studies in the summer of 2018. It’s also welcomed news to Valencia because it will allow students to pursue higher education and access better jobs.

“This is a huge achievement for Valencia’s RN to BSN program because you can only earn the accreditation after you have students successfully participating in the program,” said Diane Reed, professor, nursing, and RN to BSN chair. “At the baccalaureate (BSN) level, earning this accreditation ensures that after students complete Valencia’s program, they will have the ability to apply to any nursing master’s (MSN) level program in the country.”

CCNE accreditation guarantees the quality and integrity of baccalaureate, graduate and residency nursing programs. In addition, CCNE serves the public interest by assessing and identifying programs that engage in effective educational practices.

The attainment of earning this important nursing accreditation supports and encourages continuing self-assessment by nursing programs and continuing growth, as well as improvement of collegiate professional nursing education

Congratulate Diane and the Valencia School of Nursing faculty and staff for earning this huge achievement in the comments below.
