Ruby Alvarez to Serve as Interim Dean of the School of Nursing

A Message from Falecia Williams, President, West and Downtown Campuses

Join me in welcoming Ruby Alvarez as the interim dean of the School of Nursing.

Ruby began her career at Valencia College as an adjunct clinical instructor in 2006. Within a year, she was appointed to full-time and has been teaching in the accelerated track Associate in Science in Nursing program.

She is currently in a Ph.D program at Capella University. Her dissertation topic relates directly to her students — Predicting Success for Students Enrolled in an Online-Accelerated ASN Program.

Ruby’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University, bachelor’s degree from University of Texas, Arlington, and master’s degree from University of Phoenix. She also received a post-graduate certificate from the University of Central Florida in nursing education.

She contributes to Valencia College and the nursing profession by taking leadership roles in committees and organizations. She is the former president of the West Campus Faculty Senate and is currently the president for the Florida League for Nursing, as well as the chair for the Quality and Unity in Nursing Council of Florida.

Congratulate Ruby in the comments below.
