Samuel Dunham Selected for CUPA-HR’s Wildfire Program

Tuesday, May 18, 2021

Congratulations to Samuel Dunham, assistant director, employee development, for being one of 13 individuals selected to participate in the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) 2021-2022 Wildfire program, a 12-month leadership development experience designed for early-career higher education professionals.

“I am truly excited about the opportunity, and it was a great reminder that I have a lot that I can bring not only to the Valencia community but also the higher education human resources community through my skills, abilities and experience,” said Sam. “I am hoping to take all of my experiences in the program and develop my own leadership competencies so that I can better serve my Valencia community and be able to apply my development throughout my career.”

The program, which is being held virtually this year, starts in July 2021. Throughout the yearlong experience, Sam and other program participants will have the opportunity to develop their professional skills through tailored learning experiences including mentorship, learning events and courses, and the completion of a project showcasing the insights they gain throughout the year.

Participants were selected based on their HR strengths and areas for development identified on the program application as well as their interest in and commitment to the program. Valencia employees who may be interested in the program should consult with their supervisor about participation. For more information about the program, click here. Applications for the next cohort open in January 2022.

CUPA-HR serves higher education by providing the knowledge, resources, advocacy and connections to achieve organizational and workforce excellence. Headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee, and serving more than 33,000 HR professionals and other campus leaders at nearly 2,000 member institutions and organizations around the country and abroad, the association offers learning and professional development programs, higher education salary and benefits data, extensive online resources and regulatory and legislative information.
