As announced by College President Kathleen Plinske, Valencia College will have a new academic leadership structure to meet the needs of our students and community. These changes include the introduction of five new provost positions.
A provost of career and professional programs will provide leadership for Valencia College’s career and professional programs. The campus provosts will provide campus-based and collegewide leadership with an emphasis on our general education programs. Campus-based responsibilities for the campus provosts are based on updated configurations of our service areas for Orange and Osceola counties:
- Central Orange County: includes Downtown and Winter Park Campuses, and Transfer Initiatives
- East Orange County: includes East and Lake Nona Campuses
- West Orange County: includes West and Horizon West Campuses
- Osceola County: includes Osceola and Poinciana Campus
All provosts will be members of Valencia College’s Senior Team and will report to Isis Artze-Vega, college provost and vice president of academic affairs.
The search for our five provosts will launch on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, and we are committed to conducting an inclusive, equity-minded search, guided in part by the recommendations of the Equity-Mindedness in the Employee Experience work team. The Provost Search Committee will begin a review of applications in October 2021, and will continue working until selections are made for the five provost positions. There will be several opportunities to provide feedback throughout the process. Please stay tuned for progress updates on the search, including details on how to participate.
