Seeking Faculty Volunteers for Collegewide Committees

A Message from John Niss, President, Collegewide Faculty Association
Over the last two years, your faculty leaders have attempted to reduce the number of calls for volunteers for collegewide committees. So hopefully this will be your one opportunity this fall to self-nominate to serve the College in this way.
There are three opportunities. If you would like to volunteer for any of them, please follow the directions below for each opportunity.
Sabbatical Leave Committee
The Sabbatical Leave Committee needs three tenure or tenure-track faculty members from each campus region, East/Winter Park, Osceola/Lake Nona/Poinciana and West/Downtown. As my favorite East Campus English professor says, “I love these giving away money committees.”
This one may not be money, but giving our colleagues leave works just as well for me. For additional details, the timeline and to nominate yourself for this opportunity, click here.
Defined Contribution Advisory Committee
The Defined Contribution Advisory Committee will help guide Valencia’s voluntary retirement program, currently administered through VALIC. Previous experience in related fields would be wonderful but is not required. We need one volunteer each from tenure/tenure-track, annually appointed and part-time faculty, as each of these groups have different interests in this area. Learning Council
We still need faculty representatives for the Learning Council (the council formerly known as the Learning Leadership Council). There are spots for faculty assembly representatives from East/Winter Park and Osceola/Lake Nona/Poinciana. Any Faculty Association member from those regions is eligible. We have done an all-call already, so I’m declaring this first-come, first-served. Please email me if you are interested.
Nominations for all three opportunities are due by Wednesday, October 10, 2018.
