Each month, the West Campus Center for Teaching/Learning Innovation (CTLI) team highlights one topic of interest to our learning community in the West Campus Concentrate. We hope that you will find the information engaging and beneficial to your work in teaching and learning.
This month, we are featuring the new West Campus Center for Teaching/Learning Innovation.
What a way to start out a new academic year!
The West Campus CTLI team hopes you weathered Hurricane Irma with very minor damage. Typically, at the start of the school year, faculty come refreshed and renewed from the summer break and also excited about testing out new creative teaching ideas they would like to implement in their instruction (instead of facing a hurricane).
Therefore, if you would like to amp-up your instruction or activities or would like a thought-partner, stop by CTLI in Building 6, Room 327.
The newly renovated space, designed for Valencia’s faculty, was designed to fuel your passion for enhancing your practice.
The new Center for Teaching/Learning Innovation features:
- Huddle spaces for faculty to collaborate with colleagues or play with technology, such as iPad Pro and Surface Pro tablets;
- A technology enhanced teaching studio that allows faculty to explore new strategies using innovative tools; and
- A conference room with technology that provides opportunities for colleagues to brainstorm ideas or to facilitate meetings.
The center also has 14 cubicles for our wonderful part-time faculty who are in need of a work area to meet with students and features an open work space area with a breath-taking view of Lake Pamela.
And, this is just the tip of the iceberg, so come visit the center, meet with our talented faculty development/instructional designers and learn more about our new resources. The center is hosting its grand opening celebration on Tuesday, October 3, from 1 – 3 p.m. and Wednesday, October 4, 2017, from 4 – 6 p.m. For details, click here.
