A Message from Loren Bender, Vice President, Business Operations and Finance
I am pleased to announce that Shaun Andrews is now assistant vice president, facilities management and maintenance operations. This is a modified position, incorporating many of the job functions of the previous assistant vice president of facilities management and real estate role, formerly held by Jose Fernandez.
In this new role, Shaun will focus on developing collegewide, short- and long-term facilities plans with the vice president of business operations and finance, and providing planning, design and construction management support, sustainability expertise and other facilities-related expertise to the College.
Shaun brings many years of experience with him to this position, having served as the managing director of plant operations at Valencia for the past four years, where he was responsible for overseeing our trades, maintenance, custodial and courier service operations.
Prior to joining Valencia, Shaun spent 26 years in a variety of roles within plant operations, construction management and hospitality management. He has been a leader in plant operations for the past 16 years in Florida, and before coming to Valencia, worked in healthcare at an HCA (Hospital Corporation of America) hospital in Central Florida.
Shaun grew up in the Midwest, primarily in Ohio and Michigan, and still travels there to visit friends and family. He enjoys spending time with his wife Nancy and daughters Ana and Mallory, which normally includes visits to the local theme parks. Shaun also enjoys bicycling, an occasional round of golf or game of tennis and is an avid college football junkie (Michigan Wolverines).
He earned a Bachelor of Arts in humanities from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science in construction management from Hodges University. He is a Florida licensed contractor, notary public and a current member of the American Society for Healthcare Engineering, Florida Healthcare Engineering Association, National Notary Association and the International Facility Management Association.
Please join me in welcoming Shaun to his new role.
